APPLICATION PROCESS FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
Apply for admission - you must first be accepted to the college before any aid can be awarded. Upon acceptance, new first-year students will be considered for scholarship.
File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, 2015 but preferably by March 1, 2015. Include King's College federal code 003282 on the FAFSA. You will be asked to provide information from your 2015 federal tax return. Try to complete your tax return early in order to provide accurate data on your FAFSA.
After January 1, 2015 you can complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov. To complete it on-line, you and your parent must first create a Federal Student Aid User ID (FSAID). The FSAID will serve as your electronic signatures. If you do not use your FSAID as your signature, then you must print, sign and mail the signature page within 14 days of submitting the FAFSA. Without a signed FAFSA, your eligibility cannot be determined.
Keep copies of your FAFSA for your records.
Data from your FAFSA will be sent to all of your college choices. If you are a resident of Pennsylvania, you will automatically be considered for the PHEAA State Grant Program. Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency may request additional information from you. If requested, please respond promptly. For timely correspondence, we recommend creating an account with PHEAA at Account Access. The PHEAA State Grant program sends out its official notifications of eligibility beginning in mid-May.
Non-Pennsylvania residents should contact their own state's grant program for application requirements and filing deadlines.
Beginning in March, we will begin to review our accepted students' eligibility for financial aid. Letters will be mailed to students' homes. Award letters will contain any scholarships awarded to you by King's as well as your eligibility for federal, state and other college aid. Sign and return the Award Acceptance Form to the Financial Aid Office. Please note the deadline for returning the form.
Your FAFSA may be selected for verification by the federal processor. If selected, we are required to verify the accuracy of the data you provided. If selected, you will be required to provide additional information to us such as copies of your 2015 federal tax return transcripts. Please respond promptly to all requests for information as it may impact your eligibility for aid.
