The Student Health Center is committed to providing compassionate care and support in promoting the health and welfare of every patient. The Center’s mission is accomplished by focusing on the acute, sensitive, confidential care of the medical condition with integration of the physical, psycho-social, and spiritual needs of the whole person. The Center provides education and programs to help students develop healthy lifestyle choices and prepares them to be their own health advocate and informed consumers of appropriate health care services.
Health services for all students include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluation of illness or injury
- Flu, COVID-19, strep throat, and mononucleosis testing
- Select prescription and over the counter medications
- On-site nebulizer treatments
- Physical examination for specific requirements
- Medical supplies loan program
- Medical referrals to local specialist
- Allergy immunotherapy
- Blood pressure check
- Tuberculin screening tests (PPD)
- Weight monitoring
- Blood glucose testing
Staff and Hours
Student Health Center staff is on site daily, Monday through Friday during the academic year from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Center is open for extended hours on Tuesday until 6 p.m. All services are by appointment only, which can be scheduled by phone.
Students in need of medical care after hours should contact the Resident Assistant or Resident Counselor on-call for assistance. In the event of a true emergency, call 9-1-1 or go directly to the nearest medical facility: Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
