King’s College and Villanova University Complete Law Degree Affiliation Agreement

March 10, 2017 - Officials of King’s College and Villanova University recently completed an affiliation agreement that will allow either King’s juniors or seniors guaranteed admission and an annual scholarship to Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law given they meet grade-point-average and Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) requirements.

Prize-winning poet Gregory Orr to give free public reading at King’s College

March 8, 2017 - Prize-winning poet and Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Gregory Orr will read excerpts from his creative works at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Burke Auditorium at King’s College. The event is free and open to the public. Orr is the 2016-17 Visiting Writer, a program sponsored by the College’s English Department. He will also work with English students on their creative writing as part of a two-day campus residency.

Islam scholar Dr. Gabriel Said Reynolds to discuss Muslim and Catholic scripture during lecture at King’s

March 3, 2017 - Religion scholar and historian Dr. Gabriel Said Reynolds, professor of Islamic studies and theology at the University of Notre Dame, will deliver the annual Donald Grimes Lecture at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 27, in the Burke Auditorium at King’s College. The free public lecture, titled “The Bible and the Qur’an,” is co-sponsored by the McGowan Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility and Honors Program at King’s. 

King’s to host free screening of Bengali film featuring audience Q&A with film’s director

Feb. 27, 2017 - King’s College will host a free public screening of “Aranyadeb,” a Bengali feature film about two friends living in Kolkata who share the same soul, at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 13, in Room 90 of the Mulligan Physical Science Center. The film’s director, Debasish Sen Sharma, will introduce the film and lead an interactive session afterwards with the audiences. The event is sponsored by the Public Policy and Social Research Institute at King’s.

King’s College to host first Creative Writing Conference

Feb. 24, 2017 - King’s College will offer diverse writing workshops, roundtable discussions, and open readings as part of the first Creative Writing Conference on Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, on the College’s campus in Wilkes-Barre. The conference is sponsored by the English Department and King’s Campion Society, a student organization dedicated to writing.
