March 25, 2019 - Jennifer Judge Yonkoski, assistant technical professor of English at King’s College, and several Northeastern Pennsylvania poets will host the college’s first-ever poetry retreat on Saturday, May 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center. The cost to attend the retreat is $25, which includes lunch, dinner, and refreshment service throughout the day. The registration deadline is Monday, April 25. Poets of all experience levels are welcome to attend.

The event will take place on the third floor of the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center at King’s College, located at 133 N. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.

The retreat will give poets a chance to spend the day generating new materials, sharing their works and talking with other poets. The day will be spent in various break-out sessions including creative writing, reading, and silent writing.

“We’ve had such wonderful success with our creative writing conference every fall, but that tends to lean toward fiction and creative nonfiction,” said Yonkoski. “We thought it would be great to offer an event that would specifically appeal to poets.”
