Wilkes-Barre, Pa.—More than 75 students today attended an on-campus event featuring the Pa. Department of Auditor General’s “Intern to Hire” initiative, which provides college students with paid internships leading to full-time employment with the Department.

Students from the College’s computer information systems, computer science, mass communications, and accounting programs met with Francisco A Santos Jr., who serves as the recruitment program manager for the Pa. Department of Auditor General. The event was held this morning at the College’s McGowan School of Business.

“After catching wind of this program after it was announced last year, I contacted the Auditor General's office to express our interest and explore the possibility of having them visit King's College to address our students,” said Professor Shirley Yanovich. “We’re grateful to Mr. Santos and the Department of Auditor General for coming here to introduce this wonderful initiative in person.”

The Intern to Hire initiative is reserved for full time students enrolled in an accredited college or university who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree program with a focus on accounting, information technology, or another related field. Today’s event is one of several efforts by the College to connect students with non-profits, local businesses, and public institutions to gain practical experience in their field of study before graduation.
