Wilkes-Barre, Pa., August 21, 2022 - King’s College awarded 77 degrees to students receiving their bachelor’s or master’s at its Summer Commencement ceremony on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the King’s College William S. Scandlon Physical Education Center.

Douglas Coslett, M.D.’85—who was recently awarded the King’s College Alumni Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement in Arts and Sciences during the Spring Commencement celebration—gave the keynote address. Dr. Coslett graduated summa cum laude from King’s with a degree in biology and attended Thomas Jefferson University’s Sidney Kimmel School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lankenau Hospital. For nearly twenty years, Dr. Coslett served the community, specializing in minimally invasive surgery, and both chaired and served on numerous hospital committees, including being named president of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital medical staff. He transitioned to hospital administration as chief medical officer of Wilkes-Barre's General Hospital, overseeing several other facilities and representing the institution on numerous state and national committees, one of which was the Pennsylvania Governor's initiative for opioid harm reduction. After many years of clinical exposure to those suffering with substance use disorder, Dr. Coslett has dedicated his professional life at Brookdale Premier Addiction Recovery, Scotrun, Pa.

Additional remarks and prayers at the Summer Commencement were offered by Thomas R. Smith ’77, chair of the board of King’s College and Rev. Thomas P. Looney, C.S.C., Ph.D., president of King’s College. Joseph Evan, Ph.D., ’95, provost and vice president for academic affairs, conferred the degrees, which included 68 students receiving their Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
