Wilkes-Barre, Pa.—Six teacher candidates from King’s College have received their assignments at local school districts in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The College’s student teachers complete a 15-week placement to qualify for certification in their area and grade level.

“We’re proud that our students get to serve in local school districts throughout Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wayne Counties, which is where many of them start their careers,” said Thomas Killino, education field experience coordinator. “Not only will students experience a variety of school settings and districts, but we also regularly receive compliments about how well prepared they are for their assignments.”

The College has prepared undergraduate students for Pennsylvania teaching certifications since 1950. The Education Department also offers graduate and certificate programs for students who already have a bachelor’s degree and wish to become certified teachers in elementary, secondary, or special education.

Other offerings include a five-year program that leads to a bachelor’s degree in PK-4 and special education PK-12, as well as standalone master’s degree programs in curriculum and instruction, special education, and reading.

Endorsement programs in autism, English as a second language, instructional coaching, and STEM education are also available. For more information, visit the education webpage here.
