King’s College presented Michael Molewski ’84 with the 2026 Rev. James Lackenmier, C.S.C., Award for Achievement and Leadership at its annual ceremony, which raised $310,758 for students in need of emergency financial assistance through the Presidential Hope Fund.

Named in honor of Rev. James Lackenmier, C.S.C., the College’s seventh president, the Lackenmier Award recognizes members of the King’s College community for their professional excellence, philanthropy, and high ethical standards.

Molewski graduated from King’s in 1984 with a double major in economics and psychology and later completed graduate work in taxation through the William G. McGowan School of Business. He has served on the King’s College Board of Directors for more than 20 years.

A principal and financial advisor with CAPTRUST, Molewski founded MFP Strategies in 2000. The firm merged with CAPTRUST in 2015. His community service in the Lehigh Valley has focused on education and expanding opportunities for young people. He has held longtime leadership roles with the Northampton Community College Foundation and supported organizations serving children and young adults.

“It is our distinct pleasure to honor Michael Molewski ’84, not only for his generosity to the College, but for his boundless commitment to the service of others and to the betterment of his community,” said the Rev. Thomas P. Looney, C.S.C., Ph.D., president of King’s College. “It is no exaggeration to say that these resources change lives. The Hope Fund is used to close financial gaps, allowing students to remain enrolled in school and finish their degrees.”

King’s established the Presidential Hope Fund in 2014 to help students facing financial hardship cover tuition, books, and living expenses as they work toward a degree, and has awarded over $3 million dollars in aid. Darlene Nuñez ’26, a fourth-year accounting major, described how that support helped her make the most of her time at King’s.

“The Presidential Hope Fund scholarship has given me something more valuable than financial assistance; it has given me freedom to say yes to opportunities that have shaped the person I am becoming,” Nuñez said. “Because of that support, I have been able to graduate in only 3.5 years, complete three internships, become a member of five honor societies, and pursue opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. I greatly appreciate the support that has helped me flourish academically and personally.”

“We’re grateful to our dedicated volunteer dinner committee, generous sponsors, and to everyone who joined us in honoring Michael with one of the College’s most prestigious awards,” said Greg Morgan, vice president of institutional advancement. “Mike has spent years expanding opportunities for young people and helping raise support for his community across the Lehigh Valley as well as his alma mater here at King’s. The generosity we saw that evening carries his work forward. For students facing an unexpected financial difficulty by no fault of their own, a gift to the Presidential Hope Fund will help them stay enrolled, finish their degree, and make the most of their time at King’s.”

The award dinner was in collaboration with the College’s William G. McGowan School of Business Forum. Students spent time learning from mentors across business and finance.
