King's College recently hosted the second annual Chairman's Society Dinner at the newly dedicated Dona Posatko-Maffei Welcome and Arts Center, bringing together some of the institution's most dedicated alumni and friends, while welcoming new members to the society.
The Chairman's Society recognizes individuals whose lifetime philanthropic commitments to the College have reached or exceeded $1 million, reflecting a shared commitment to the College's Holy Cross mission and its long-term success.
During his opening remarks, Rev. Thomas P. Looney, C.S.C., Ph.D., president of King’s College, reflected on the transformative impact of philanthropy across campus.
"The vision that I have for King's is a deeply sacramental one. It proclaims that our care for and commitment to producing great citizens for earth and heaven, and teaching students not only how to make a living but how to live, demand concrete actions to create exceptional academic programs and life-enhancing spaces," said Fr. Looney. "I am so grateful for your generosity in moving this vision toward fulfillment and ask that you take up Pat O'Connor's inspiring vision in founding the Chairman's Society: spread the word so that others might join in this work that is not simply human, as Father Moreau would have claimed, but God's very own."
The evening also served as an opportunity to celebrate several significant philanthropic investments that continue to shape the future of King's College. Highlighted initiatives included the newly named Molewski Edwards Student Success Center, the continued growth of the College's health sciences programs, planned enhancements to campus gateways and green spaces, and ongoing development at Betzler Fields.
Founded under the visionary leadership of Patrick J. O'Connor, Esq. '64, former member King's Board of Directors, the Chairman's Society was established to recognize and honor those whose extraordinary generosity has helped advance the King's mission and strategic priorities.
As King's College celebrates its 80th Anniversary, the institution does so with profound gratitude for the alumni and friends whose philanthropy continues to strengthen the College and create opportunities for future generations of Monarchs.
