Biography
Amy Sliva, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Program Director for the Computer Science program. Dr. Sliva teaches a range of courses, including Introduction to Programming, Database Management Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity. Her research is interdisciplinary, with expertise in computational social science developing artificial intelligence to support decisions in security policy, international conflict, and international development. Current research includes collaboration under IARPA’s Reimagining Security with Cyberpsychology-Informed Network Defenses (ReSCIND) program to model cyber adversaries, and research in sensitivity analysis for food security decisions in Ethiopia.Previously, Dr. Sliva was a Senior Scientist at Charles River Analytics, developing intelligent systems for the National Security and Intelligence Communities. She was PI on DARPA's World Modelers program, developing tools for uncertainty management in sociopolitical systems, IARPA's Cyber-attack Automated Unconventional Sensor Environment (CAUSE) program, mining social media, dark web, and news for cyberattack indicators, and several U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research programs to prototype a toolkit with behavioral characteristics of cyber adversaries for proactive defense.
Dr. Sliva was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Political Science at Northeastern University. She collaborated with the National Defense University on strategic analysis of cyber warfare and worked for the World Bank on behavioral modeling for education in Nigeria.
