Housing Application Process
First-Year Students: New first-year students will receive an email at their King's email address from the Office of Residence Life within the first two weeks of May. Students will need to follow the instructions in the email in order to access the online Residence Life Portal, as well as submit a $150 housing deposit, no later than June 7, 2024.
Transfer Students: New transfer students will receive an email at their King's email address from the Office of Residence Life once their deposit is confirmed by the Office of Admission. Students will need to follow the instructions in the email in order to access the online Residence Life Portal, as well as submit a $150 housing deposit as soon as possible.
Room Assignments
First-Year Students: Students who return their paperwork by the June 7 deadline will receive room and roommate assignments to their King's email address at the beginning of July. The letter will include the student's building, room assignment, roommate's name, and their contact information.
Transfer Students: Transfer students will need to first fill out and submit all necessary information on the Residence Life Portal. When working to house transfer students, we try to look at the student's age, as well as the student's experience at their prior institution. We work with the student, and any potential roommates, to find a housing placement that will be positive for all students. Once a placement is determined, the student will receive a letter to their King's email address. The letter will include the student's building, room assignment, roommate's name, and their contact information.
What to Bring to Campus
Our Recommended Packing List helps you think about items to bring with you to campus. It's also helpful to refer to room dimensions and floor plans of each our residential buildings.
As you're packing, please reference your housing contract for items that are or are not permitted, as well as the maximum sizes for some electronic items. Be sure to also leave behind those items that are not permitted on campus, particularly items that are a fire hazard (e.g., toaster ovens, candles, 3-D printers, space heaters) and pets that are not approved Service Animals or Emotional Support Animals.
Medical Housing Accommodations
Students who require specific accommodation due to medical diagnosis should first speak with the Associate Director of the Academic Skills Center and Disability Services Coordinator. They will work with you on obtaining any necessary paperwork to confirm the need for an accommodation and will also coordinate with the Office of Residence Life to implement any approved accommodations. Please refer to the Academic Skills Center page for more information and contacts.

There's a lot to do here at King's, and here are just a couple ways to get out and meet new people.
- Floor Programs: Your Resident Assistant (RA) will be planning a multitude of events throughout the year for your floor and building. Be sure to attend a few and get to know someone new!
- Activities Fair: Held on September 5, you can check out all the clubs and organizations that King's has to offer and join any that you might share some interests with. If you don't see the club for you, stop in to Campus Activities and learn how to start one!
- Volunteer Fair: Service is an important part of life at King's. Stop by the Volunteer Fair on September 11 to learn about some of the organizations we work with and serve.
Campus Services
As a resident student, you have access to several services that are included in your room, board, and fees. We also provide additional information on services that may be of interest to you.
Student Health Center
Campus Mail
All students are assigned a four-digit mailbox with a unique combination to open the box. All mailboxes are in the student's residence hall. Students will receive an email from the Registrar's Office at the start of the second week of classes, detailing their unique 4-digit box number and combination. Once the student receives their mailbox number, they should provide that to friends and family to be added to the formal address. In the meantime, if a student needs to have a package sent to campus, please use the following address:
[Your Name]
King's College
133 North River Street
Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711
When packages arrive on campus, students will receive an email from the College's Post Office, notifying them that they have a package that needs to be claimed. Students will have to show their King's ID card at the Post Office and sign for their package.
Phones, Computers, and Wi-Fi
There are emergency phones located on most residence hall floors in common areas for student use. 9-1-1 and local calls will work on these emergency phones.
All resident students can set up their own computer and connect to the Internet via the College's wireless network from their residence hall rooms.
Laundry and Linens
Laundry services are included as part of the student's room charges. Laundry facilities are found in the basements of Holy Cross Hall, Esseff Hall, Flood Hall, and Luksic Hall. Ryan and O'Hara Halls have laundry facilities on the second, third, and fourth floors. The Alley Center has laundry facilities on the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors. Students will be able to do laundry only in the building in which they reside. On campus laundry services are not available for use by commuter or off campus students.
Students will need to supply their own twin XL sheets, blankets, towels and any other necessary linens.
