Program Overview
As K-12 education faces a wide array of fundamental challenges, educators with advanced degrees, certifications, and endorsements are in high demand.
Earning a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., will enhance your approach to developing energized and inclusive curricula and instructional competencies in the classroom, inspire your development, and position you as a leader who can incorporate learning trends, best practices, and address complex issues across several concentration areas.
Choose from one of six different Curriculum and Instruction degree concentrations, five of which include Pennsylvania certifications or endorsements (only available to educators who hold a Pennsylvania teaching certification and who have completed the required coursework and applicable exams):
English as a Second Language + Program Specialist Certification*
EDUC 600 Second Language Acquisition: Theory & Practice (3 credits)*
EDUC 605 ESL Instruction: Theory & Practice (3 credits)*
EDUC 610 ESL Assessment: Theory & Practice (3 credits)*
EDUC 615 Dimensions of Culture (3 credits)*
CERTIFICATION OPTION: For those who already hold their master’s degree, starred courses and EDUC 601 ESL Clinical Field Experience can be completed to earn ESL Program Specialist Certification (15 credits). EDUC 601 is required for the certificate but does not count in the M.Ed. concentration.
