Leo & Friends Writing Retreat 2025

Fourth Annual Leo's Writing Retreat!

Calling all writers, poets, playwrights, and more. If you love to write and want to spend some time being inspired by fellow writers and people who love writing, join us this June on campus for a writer's retreat. For the fourth consecutive year, King's will be offering Leo's Writing Retreat and play host to writers and want-to-be writers for a weekend that offers time to learn, reflect, and most importantly -- to write! The event happens on campus, starting Friday, June 13 at noon and ending on Sunday, June 15 in the late afternoon. This year, not only are alumni encouraged to join but non-alumni are welcome as well!

Meals and sessions are included in the registration price of $135 per person.

Optional housing on campus is available at $35 per person, per night for a room with a shared bath or $70 per person, per night for a private bath.

If you would like to attend this event, please register by May 15, 2025, so that we can plan a fantastic experience. The schedule of workshops will be made available to all registrants in June before the event.

OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A CRITIQUE CIRCLE
Would you like to participate in a critique circle for in-progress or finished longer works, such as manuscripts or novels? Participants will be emailed a copy of the work by May 15, 2025. Works should be emailed to kings.writing.retreat@gmail.com with the subject line "Long Critique Circle Submission." Please include your genre and word count in the body of the email. The critique session will take place on Sunday, June 15th in the afternoon.

OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD A WORKSHOP

If you would like to lead one of our sessions during the weekend, we are now accepting applications. In the past we have done workshops such as: The Value of Journaling, Writing the Perfect Scene, or Self-publishing, presented by fellow participants. Workshops should be designed to last either 60 or 90 minutes. Think about what you know a lot about and would like to share with others. The deadline for proposals is April 15, 2025. To get started, please complete this workshop proposal application: https://alumni.kings.edu/f/leo-s-writing-retreat-workshop-proposal
