Sister Elizabeth Kovacs entered the religious community of the Sisters of Christian Charity in August of 2003 and professed her Perpetual Vows on August 15, 2013. She earned her associate’s degree in liberal arts in 2006 from Assumption College for Sisters and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009 from Pennsylvania College of Technology. She worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department of Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pa., where she served as a charge nurse and representative for her department on various nursing committees at the hospital. She was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the hospital’s efforts to achieve Magnet Recognition status in 2013.
Sister Elizabeth earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner in 2016 at Widener University. She continued working in the emergency department at Holy Spirit Hospital as a nurse practitioner. She was transferred to the Motherhouse of her religious community in 2019, where she served as Administrator and Director of Nursing for the retired Sisters for several years during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Sister Elizabeth found that working with her elderly Sisters was extremely grace-filled and enriching in many ways. In addition to teaching in the nursing department at King's College, she currently works as a nurse practitioner in two emergency departments within the Penn State Health System and holds several certifications, including those in emergency nursing, trauma, and geriatric care.
