Oct. 16, 2013 - Dr. Sunny Weiland, assistant professor of education at King’s College, was recently chosen as the recipient of the 2013 “Outstanding Young Educator Award”  by the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (PASCD).

Each year, the PASCD presents the award to an educator who demonstrates “exemplary commitment and exceptional contribution to the profession.”

Oct. 16, 2013 - Fifty four students recently began the professional phase of the King’s College Physician Assistant Studies program.

Oct. 8, 2013 - King’s College has been awarded a $75,000 grant by the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program to fund a four-week group trip to Uganda next summer to study the East African’s nation’s models of education.

Margarita Rose, professor and chair of the economics department at King’s College, will serve as project director for the grant, which was one of only 16 awarded to United States colleges and universities.  Other Group Projects Abroad Program grant recipients include Georgia Tech, the University of California at Berkeley, Columbia and UCLA.

Award-winning novelist Amy Bloom will read excerpts from her work during a free public event at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Burke Auditorium at King’s College. Bloom is the 2013 Visiting Writer, a program co-sponsored by the College’s English Department and “Experiencing the Arts” Program. Bloom will also work with English students on their creative writing as part of a two-day campus residency.

Dr. Robin Field, associate professor of English and director of Women’s Studies Department at King’s College, recently published the article “‘You No Real Man’: Constructing Gender, Sexuality, and the Asian American Subject in Jana Monji’s ‘Kim’” in the journal “Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies.”  She was also recently appointed associate editor of the journal “South Asian Review.”
