Advisory Board for King’s College Engineering Program Established

Oct. 30, 2013 - A group of local professionals has been established as an advisory board for King’s College’s 3-2 dual degree engineering program with the University of Notre Dame.

The degree program, which began this fall at King’s, allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree in one of three academic disciplines from King’s and a bachelor’s degree in one of six engineering disciplines from the University of Notre Dame after five years of study.

The program attracted 17 students this fall, more than double the College’s goal of eight.

King’s students, staff and alumni to display photographs of volunteer trips in upcoming exhibit

Oct. 25, 2013 - Collected during various service experiences coordinated through the Shoval Center for Engagement and Learning, King’s College students and staff will display photographs that reflect the social justice issues of hunger and homelessness during a free public exhibition, titled “Hungering for Justice,” from Monday, Nov. 4, through Dec. 13 in the Widmann Gallery.

King’s students awarded full-tuition scholarships to study in Ireland

Oct. 24, 2013 - King’s College students Taylor Brainard, Jesse Harvey, and Kelsey Jones have been awarded full-tuition scholarships to study in Northern Ireland during the 2013-2014 academic year as part of the Irish-American Scholars Program.

Brainard is studying during the fall semester at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown, Northern Ireland. The recipient of a Presidential Scholarship at King’s, Brainard is a junior majoring in marketing with a minor in mass communications.

Oct. 18, 2013 - Three members of the King’s College faculty have published articles in the “Ethics in Focus” forum section of the recent issue of an academic journal, “Expositions: Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities.”

King’s professor Dr. Ray Gamache to lecture; host book signing at Barnes & Noble on Oct. 24

Dr. Ray Gamache, assistant professor of mass communications at King’s College, will present a lecture, titled “The Ethics of Famine Reporting: Gareth Jones and the Ukrainian Famine,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in downtown Wilkes-Barre.
