Dec. 16, 2013 - The King’s College Community recently recognized employees for their service during an annual Patron’s Day Mass held in conjunction with the Feast of Christ the King.

Four members of the faculty and staff were each recognized with the Christi Regis Award, which is presented to faculty and administrators completing 20 years of service to King’s.  The award was established by the King’s College Board of Directors in 1966, the 20th anniversary of the College, and has been presented every year since.

Robert P. Wolensky, adjunct professor of history and sociology at King's College, was recently awarded a Fulbright fellowship for a research project based at the University of Exeter in England. The study involves a comparison of the anthracite coal industry of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the British coal mining industry, specifically on the topic of labor relations and mineral rights access.  He will take up residency in Exeter for a period of five months where he will be joined in the study by faculty in the University's History Department.

For the second consecutive academic year, King’s College has developed a new bachelor’s degree academic program that builds on existing College strengths and responds to an expanding need and job market.

Nov. 19, 2013 - Seventy-eight students from the King’s College’s William G. McGowan School of Business participated in the Ninth annual McGowan School of Business Forum held recently at the Westmoreland Club in Wilkes-Barre.

This year’s Forum provided the students mentoring and networking opportunities with 38 King’s alumni and other professionals, followed by a dinner and a presentation on ethics and social responsibility by a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross.  The Forum’s location rotates between Philadelphia, New York and Wilkes-Barre.

Nov. 19, 2013 - Dr. William Irwin, chair and professor of philosophy at King’s College, has recently published the paper, titled “Death by Inauthenticity: Heidegger’s Debt to Ivan Ilyich’s Fall,” in “Tolstoy Studies Journal.”

He also published “Control Your Thoughts and Emotions,” in the “Journal of Modern Wisdom,” as well as “A Reality Check to Form Your Philosophy” in the academic journal, “Think.”
