October 16, 2014 – King’s College Chemistry Club will present a traditional ghoulish exhibition of chemical delights in commemoration of National Chemistry Week and Halloween with the 18th Annual “Things that Go Boom in the Night” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Burke Auditorium, William G. McGowan School of Business, located on North River Street.

October 16, 2014 - The first Father James Lackenmier, C.S.C., Award for Achievement and Leadership was presented on October 15 to Tim Morris, a 1964 graduate of King’s, at a ceremony held at the New York Athletic Club.  More than 230 guests attended the ceremony.

Morris retired in 2006 as managing director of Bessemer Trust Company, New York City.  During his career, he also held executive positions with Chemical Bank and Bank of New York.  Morris is also a member of the King’s College Board of Directors.

October 6, 2014 - Award-winning writer Jimmy Santiago Baca will read excerpts from his work during a free public event at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the Burke Auditorium at King’s College. Baca is the 2014 Visiting Writer, a program co-sponsored by the College’s English Department and “Experiencing the Arts” Program. Baca will also work with English students on their creative writing as part of a two-day campus residency.

September 26, 2014 - Dr. William Irwin, chair and professor of philosophy at King’s College, had his paper, titled “Authorial Declaration and Extreme Actual Intentionalism,” accepted for publication in “The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism.”

September 15, 2014 - The King’s College Theatre Department will open the season with performances of the 60s rock opera, “Tommy,” The Who’s Pete Townshend’s electrifying tale of a catatonic adolescent’s journey into a pinball wizard. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1-4 and Oct. 6 and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 4 and 5 in the George P. Maffei II Theatre.

King’s has offered theatre productions for local audiences since 1950.

The play features music & lyrics by rock n’ roll legend Townshend, and is based on a book by Townshend and Des McAnuff.
