Wilkes-Barre, Pa., March 28, 2023—Registration is open for two exciting academic camps for high school students hosted by King’s College this summer: Aspiring Writers Camp, June 12-15, 2023, and Health Sciences Summer Camp, July 9-13, 2023. Aspiring Writers Camp: Aspiring Writers Camp provides quality writing instruction from King’s College professors and features lessons on poetry, fiction, comedy writing, science fiction, Will’s Rules for Writing, “The Soundtrack to Your Life,” or “The Exploration of Visual Art and Design in Theatre.” Students will also complete writing exercises and participate in readings. This four-day camp will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 12, 13, 14, and 15 with lunch and snacks provided. Registration is $75 and can be completed online until May 28, 2023. Health Sciences Summer Camp: Health Sciences Summer Camp will expose high school students to hands-on, dynamic workshops in an array of subjects, including physician assistant, occupational therapy, athletic training, exercise science, nutrition, nursing, chiropractor, and many others. Students may receive training with simulators used by healthcare majors and learn skills like basic suturing, administration of injections, and full patient assessment; an optional cadaver dissection lab is also available. Taught by active practitioners, students will gain an understanding of the many different careers within the health sciences. This four-day camp is offered daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 10, 11, 12, and 13 and features rotated sessions of small groups. Registration is $495 (daily drop off; breakfast and lunch provided) or $695 (overnight, drop off on Sunday, July 9; breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided).
