September 27, 2021 – Bill Reynolds, MSPAS, PA-C, Clinical Director and Clinical Professor of Physician Assistant Studies at King’s College has been honored with a Resolution of Commendation from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).  David I. Jackson, DHSc, PA-C, DFAAPA, presented Mr. Reynolds with the resolution on behalf of the AAPA this summer at a small ceremony held in the Richard Abbas Alley Center for Health Sciences.  In addition, the past five Speakers of the House of Delegates and Vice -Presidents of the AAPA virtually presented this honor at its May 2021 meeting, highlighting Mr. Reynolds’ accomplishments in clinical practice, education, and leadership.

Mr. Reynolds served as the Speaker from 2019-2021, responsible for presiding over 300 delegates from across the country.  One of his greatest accomplishments during his tenure as Speaker was being able to conduct the House of Delegates business without being able to hold an in-person meeting due to the pandemic.  A hallmark of the House’s work during Reynolds’ leadership was the research and debate over a name change for the profession. Ultimately, in May 2021, the House of Delegates decided to change the name from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate.  Mr. Reynolds sees this action as a path moving the profession forward, “to increase access to care and quality of care by promoting the PA profession.”  The next step for the AAPA is to collaborate with legislators to review Federal and state laws and regulations.

Bill Reynolds is a 1993 graduate of the King’s College PA Program and a graduate of the University of Nebraska’s PA master’s degree program, where he specialized in family practice.  He has earned the designation of AAPA Distinguished Fellow.
