March 20, 2019 - Poetry in Transit, an award-winning program that showcases poems on Luzerne County buses, is currently accepting submissions for the 2019-2020 season. Submissions are open to any writer, regardless of age or location. The submission deadline is Friday, May 10.

This year’s competition theme is “Small.” Authors are invited to examine the concept in any way. Poems must be six lines or less. The committee asks that submissions avoid profanity, outright political screeds, or religious statements. Any language, if accompanied by an English translation, will be accepted. The competition is limited to three submissions per author.

Winning poems will be selected from a panel of judges representing local colleges in Northeastern Pennsylvania; King’s College, Misericordia University, Luzerne County Community College, Wilkes University, Lackawanna College and Pennsylvania State University, Wilkes-Barre. Winning submissions will be featured on advertising displays inside Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA) buses from August to July 2020.
