February 1, 2021 – King’s College is a proud to be a partner of Poetry in Transit, an award-winning program that showcases poems on Luzerne County buses. The program is currently accepting submissions for the 2021-2022 season. Submissions are open to any writer, regardless of age or location. The submission deadline is Friday, May 14, 2021. Winning submissions will be featured on advertising displays inside Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA) busses from August 2021 to July 2022.

This year’s competition theme is “Letting Go.” Authors are invited to examine the concept in any way. Poems must be six lines or less. The committee asks that submissions avoid profanity, outright political screeds, or religious statements. Any language, if accompanied by an English translation, will be accepted. The competition is limited to three submissions per author. Winning poems will be selected from a panel of judges representing local colleges in Northeastern Pennsylvania; King’s College, Misericordia University, Luzerne County Community College, Wilkes University, Lackawanna College and Pennsylvania State University, Wilkes-Barre.

This year, Poetry in Transit has added a photography category, and selected submissions may be paired with poems on LCTA busses. Requirements for photo submissions include that they be high quality (300 dpi), black and white or color, landscape orientation preferred, with a limit of 1-3 photos per submission. Photographs will be selected by the panel designer.
