July 12, 2019 - King’s College has formed an external nursing advisory board comprised of 14 regional health care professionals in response to the changes and challenges in health care education. The advisory board will discuss community related topics to gain a better understanding of the needs of regional healthcare facilities, like hospitals, long-term care and community agencies. Based on the changes, members will offer input into the curriculum of the new RN to BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program and 1-2-1 Dual Degrees in Nursing partnership with Luzerne County Community College (LCCC).
“The health care professionals who have volunteered to be on the board bring years of experience from varied backgrounds in clinical agencies or academia. King’s faculty members hope to gain insight into what is needed in the new curriculum to better prepare BSN nurses for professional practice and to make the transition to the BSN as seamless as possible,” according to Dr Cynthia Mailloux, chair and professor of nursing at King’s. “The responsibilities of nurses today continue to grow, and we want our nurses to be prepared for leadership and management roles in practice.”
