The First-Year Experience
Seminar or FYE 010 as it is known on campus, is part of the New Student
Orientation program that all first-year students participate. The seminar
lasts 14 weeks and is a one-credit course.
A faculty or staff member and a student leader teach the seminar. The
sessions focus on integrity with information and discussion regarding
decision making on a cross section of topics that apply to campus life.
The topics include campus services, social issues, leadership, spirituality,
career planning, research & technology, and service.
All first-year students who begin their undergraduate experience at King's
are required to complete the seminar to be eligible for graduation from
the College. FYE appears on your class schedule and on your college transcript
with a pass/fail grade indicated. Attendance and active participation
in all FYE sessions is required to pass the seminar.
The First-Year Seminar is coordinated by a student affairs professional
and a member of the King's faculty in conjunction with administrative
staff and student leaders.
