Career Planning and Placement Mission Statement
The Office of Career Planning and Placement within the Division of Student Affairs is designed to provide students with quality learning experiences that will encourage personal development and competency skills in the areas of career decision-making and job placement. It is anticipated and hoped that by assisting students in meeting their career goals that they will find professional success and personal satisfaction. The Career Planning and Placement Office works closely with both academic and student affairs engaging students in counseling and skills training which contribute to career development and their preparation for job placements and/or graduate or professional schools.
The goals of the Career Planning and Placement Office are based upon cognitive content related to career development theory and the practical acquisition and application of job search skills. A comprehensive, developmental program of career services is available to students at all academic levels. The purpose is to facilitate the learning process focused on establishing a greater sense of self-awareness and career decision-making skills, gaining insights into accessing and utilizing career information, developing opportunities for internships and experiences in their fields of study, and acquiring skills to assist them in conducting successful job searches and/or obtaining entry into a graduate or professional school program. It is expected that once students have learned how to make informed career decisions and have acquired career-related skills that they will be able to refine and reapply these learned strategies through their lifetimes.
In an effort to assist all students in achieving their career goals, the Career Planning and Placement Office offers services and programs which include: credited career planning courses; individual career counseling and assessment services; workshops; career newsletters; a professional development seminar series; computerized guidance and resource programs; an on-campus recruiting program and employment fairs; a job notification service for full-time, part-time, and summer employment; senior year accounting internships; and a well-maintained Career Resource Center. A broad-based and integrated system, the Career Planning and Placement Office is characterized by joint and collaborative efforts with academics and student affairs components, as well as a developed linkage to employers, alumni, and community leaders.

The office is open year-round, Monday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
