STUDENT INVOLVEMENT
IN COLLEGE GOVERNANCE
The Student Affairs Division is primarily responsible for the co-curriculum
of the college. The division, along with related departments, formulates
policy and provides experiences and services to enhance the campus environment.
Student involvement in formulating the co-curriculum is essential.
The Student Government serves as the primary voice of students in college
governance. Students affect the governance through participation on the
various committees of the college within student affairs and/or the academic
affairs divisions of the college.
The following is a list of committees in the co-curriculum of student
affairs. Some are permanent committees, others are ad hoc in nature or
task forces created to address specific issues for the College community.
Committees
Committee and task force recommendations are forwarded to the appropriate
administrative office for final decision. Students are encouraged to become
involved in college governance through participation in Student Government.
New Student Orientation
Planning Committee
The New Student Orientation Planning Committee is composed of the four
student orientation directors and director of student life programs. They
are responsible for the planning and implementation of the Fall Orientation
Program and January Informational Session for all new students. They are
assisted by other members of the administration and faculty.
Residence Life
Selection Committee
The Residence Life Selection Committee is responsible for the development
of the selection process for new resident assistants. Applicants for resident
assistant positions are interviewed by the committee in the Spring Semester
of each year. The committee includes students from the Student Government,
present resident assistants, resident counselors, the director and the
assistant director of residence life.
Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is composed of the captains and
designated underclass persons from each athlete team within the intercollegiate
athletic program. The purpose of the committee is to promote a positive
atmosphere on the King's College campus regarding all athletics. This
is done through a variety of projects each school year that enhance the
image of the athletics and in particular athletics at the College. In
a larger scheme, King's College will also be represented by two of its
own designates on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee of the Middle
Atlantic Corporation (M.A.C.) for the purpose of sharing ideas and goals
with the other colleges in the M.A.C.
Student Judicial
Board
The Student Judicial Board consists of ten students who serve as a peer
review board for disciplinary incidents. Members make recommendations
on an accused student's guilt or innocence and sanction, if appropriate.
The board is selected by a committee consisting of students and administrators.
