PRODUCTION OF 'MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING'

IS SOMETHING TO SEE AT KING'S COLLEGE

September 19, 2005 – The King’s Players will continue in the King’s College tradition of intelligent, well-acted, and creatively staged productions of Shakespeare by presenting one of Shakespeare’s best comedies, Much Ado About Nothing.  The performances will run from Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 2-4 in the King’s Theatre.

The play combines hilarity with serious meditations on honor, shame, and court politics. Although the young lovers Hero and Claudio provide the impetus for the plot, the courtship between the older, wise lovers Benedick and Beatrice is what makes the play memorable.

With this production, the King’s Theatre Department brings a cast of 23 students, alumni, and community members including Martin Glick, Mountaintop (Don Pedro); Sean McKeown, Wilkes-Barre (Don John); Jason Alfano, Shavertown (Claudio); Ryan Baran, Hazleton (Benedick); Megan Ravenscroft, New Brigain, Pa. (Hero, Daughter to Leonato); Cassie Westover, Tigard, Oregon (Beatrice); Lauren Costanza, Laflin (Margaret).

Evening performances begin at 7:30 in the King’s Theatre in the Administration Building on North River Street. Ticket prices are $7; students/senior citizens, $4. For more information and reservations, call the box office at 208-5825 or e-mail boxoff@kings.edu.
