ARTISTIC TALENTS AND STYLES ON DISPLAY

AT KING'S WIDMANN GALLERY IN 2005-2006

September 12, 2005 – Established and emerging artists, working in a variety of media including oil, pastels, watercolors, and clay will be showing their works in a number of exciting exhibitions throughout the year in the Widmann Gallery of the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center at King’s College. Not only can the public visit the works at the Widmann Gallery, they can hear the artists talk about the creative process during a Meet-the-Artist reception.

The year’s exhibitions opened on August 19 with the original works of over 24 members of the Wilkes-Barre chapter of The Colored Pencil Society of America in the “Colored Pencil Plus” exhibition, which continues through Oct. 3.

Other exhibitions during the year include oil, pastel, and watercolor works of Sandy Leonard, Judy Panek, and Jim Rogowski from Oct. 7- Nov. 4; the human figure and face are presented in a variety of media by Ann Kohut from Jan. 9- Feb. 2; and the black and white photography by Jim Gavenus from Feb. 6-28.

Donna Rossettti-Bailey’s “In Different Lights – Pastel Landscapes” exhibition displays the beauty of nature, weather and the seasons, from March 3-31; and the paintings and drawings of the Pennsylvania En Plein Air Society from May 2- June 2.

Add to this the original works by area high school students; the use of oils, pastels, sculpture and computer animation by Coughlin High School alumni; and the varied and impressive talents of the King’s College community and you will have a complete and eventful year of art exhibitions at King’s Widmann Gallery.

The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday by prior appointment. The Gallery is closed on national holidays and during scheduled breaks when the College is closed. Unless noted otherwise, all exhibitions and exhibition-related programs are held at the Widmann Gallery in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center (between North Franklin and North Main streets).
