KING'S MASS COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY BOARD BEGINS NEW CHAPTER FOR DEPARTMENT

August 23, 2005 -- In an effort to better serve its students in the ever-expanding world of media and technology, the Mass Communications department of King’s College has invited local professionals to help chart the direction of the program and identify better ways to prepare King’s students for entry into the working world.

The goal of the department with the help of the advisory board is to enhance student enrollment and develop a premier Mass Communications program.

Chaired by Dr. Jayne Klenner-Moore, Associate Professor of Mass Communications, the first Advisory Board meeting took place in early summer. The advisory board is  looking forward to working with students and faculty, as  two subcommittees will be exploring options for an outreach program for the greater Wilkes-Barre area and for potential internships.

The Mass Comm Advisory Board members, many of them King’s College alumni, each represents a slightly different aspect of the communications world.  Sean Finn works in promotions and sales at WBRE-TV; Josh Graham works with interfaces for DVD movies at Designs by Deluxe in Moosic; John Mikulak is an award-winning independent filmmaker currently working with Condron & Company, Scranton; Tracey Selingo is founder of  Ink Corp, a full-service marketing communication firm; and Tom Snee  is the program director and Morning Man for Y-106.5 FM. Stanley Timek does video production for WVIA-TV; David Thackara is a columnist and works on-air for Rock 107 in Scranton; Alan K. Stout is editor of the Weekender newspaper; and Charles Wasserott is CEO of Patient Care.

Dr. Jayne Klenner-Moore says of the new Advisory Board, “The Mass Communications Department is fortunate to have such an experienced group of communicators to help Mass Comm move in new directions, develop new approaches and expand its horizons to include the larger community of Northeastern Pa.”
