HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH CONTEST WINNERS
HONORED AT
KING'S COLLEGE
8 Scranton and Pocono area students receive Spanish awards
July 15, 2005– The National Spanish
Examinations, given locally by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the
American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, concluded with 42
chapter winners from a pool of 715 middle and high school students who competed
from regional public and private schools.
King’s College hosted an authentic Spanish dinner for area Northeastern
Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Spanish Examinations winners and their
families at the College’s Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center. Alex Byczkowski,
assistant professor of Foreign Languages and Literature at King’s College, is
director of the program.
Winners from the Scranton and Pocono area include Brian Dunstone, Scranton
Preparatory; Kristen Fenocchi, Scranton Preparatory; Keith Gallagher, Scranton
Preparatory; Melissa Linskey, Seton Catholic; Alexandra Mitic, Pocono Mountain
East; Mary Opalka, Scranton Preparatory; Emily Pizzichemi, Scranton Preparatory;
and Rima Shah, Scranton Preparatory.
King’s College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross
