MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH CONTEST
WINNERS HONORED
AT KING'S COLLEGE
4 Hazleton area students receive Spanish awards
July 15, 2005– The National Spanish
Examinations, given locally by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the
American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, concluded with 42
chapter winners from a pool of 715 middle and high school students who competed
from regional public and private schools.
King’s College hosted an authentic Spanish dinner for area Northeastern
Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Spanish Examinations winners and their
families at the College’s Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center. Alex Byczkowski,
assistant professor of Foreign Languages and Literature at King’s College, is
director of the program.
Ashley Morrison, MMI Preparatory, was presented with the annual Langenscheidt
Award, jointly administered by Langenscheidt Publishers Inc., and the American
Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The award honors students for
an outstanding effort and achievement in the study of a foreign language, and
consists of a certificate and a Spanish Dictionary. Chapter winners received
trophies and a certificate.
