KING'S PLAYERS BRING 'TWO ROOMS'

TO LOCAL AUDIENCES

April 18, 2005– The King’s College Players will bring Lee Blessing’s contemporary work that hits home with a subject fresh in the minds of today’s society–the taking of hostages by political terrorists. The play tackles the question of whether victims realize the futility of logic and compassion when dealing with those who commit barbarous acts. The answer is found in Two Rooms, from April 27-30 in the King’s Theatre, Administration Building on North River Street.

Two Rooms was first presented by California's innovative La Jolla Playhouse. The play illuminates both the numbing agony of the one detained and also the helpless fury of those who are left behind--loved ones impatient for something to be done, and officials who feel they must be guided by logic rather than emotion.

The two rooms of the title are a windowless cubicle in Beirut where Arab terrorists are holding an American hostage and a room in his home in the United States, which his wife has stripped of furniture so that, at least symbolically, she can share his ordeal.

With this production, the King’s Theatre Department brings a cast of students and alumni faculty to the stage including sophomore Jason Alfano; Kelly Corbett, King’s College Discovery Program; and Theatre alumni Christina Fadden and Justin Scappaticci.

Two Rooms is directed by visiting-director Dr. Richard Gillespie. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the King’s Theatre in the Administration Building on North River Street. Ticket prices are $7; students/senior citizens, $4. For information and reservations, call the box office at 208-5825 or e-mail boxoff@kings.edu
