KING'S COLLEGE KICKS OFF
ANNUAL FUND COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN
April 1, 2005– Jim Bone, Jr., senior vice president, First National Community Bank in Dunmore, was named chairman of the King’s College Annual Fund’s Community Phase at a kickoff luncheon on March 13. Bone will lead a group of motivated men and women to work with volunteers to reach King’s Annual Fund target of $1 million. This Campaign marks the 31st Anniversary of the Community Phase.
The Annual Fund drive seeks to raise gifts from several sources, including alumni, the surrounding community; businesses and friends; King’s faculty, administration and staff; and parents of students. The Campaign covers three Phases: Alumni, Community, and Major Gifts. To achieve the target, which will enable King’s College to pursue its goals to support its mission, the leadership and volunteers conduct special events and other initiatives including phonathons to alumni, businesses and friends.
Specifically, the Annual Fund is an appeal for unrestricted gifts to be used by the College for promoting its mission with special emphasis on student financial assistance. Over 90 percent of King’s students receive financial aid. The Annual Fund helps to provide affordable, quality education through such initiatives as scholarship programs, faculty development programs, and expenditures for equipment, technology and research.
Another goal is to raise awareness of King’s crucial academic role and its place within the Catholic educational tradition of the city and region where the College has flourished since 1946.
Business and community leaders interested in learning about the Community Campaign and how it benefits King’s College students may phone the Institutional Advancement Office at King’s at 570-208-5880.
