KING'S COLLEGE PLAYERS PERFORM

'A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS'

MARCH 31, APRIL 1-3

March 25, 2004- The King’s College Players presents Sir Thomas More’s ultimate quandary, forced by Henry VIII to choose between rendering allegiance to God or Caesar, in Robert Bolt’s A Man for All Seasons on Wednesday, March 31 through Saturday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m.

Written by Robert Bolt in 1960 and adapted for director Fred Zinnemann in 1966, A Man for All Seasons won six Oscars for Bolt’s compelling story. Playwright Bolt contrasts the importance of a person’s pledge in the 16th century to the insignificance of such a vow in the 1960s.

Sir Thomas More was beheaded for failing to swear to King Henry VIII’s oath of supremacy, and he became a saint for his courage and commitment to the Roman Catholic Church. Sir Thomas More was also the author of Utopia (1516), a novel that pictured an ideal society founded solely on reason; he was a true Renaissance man, “a man for all seasons.”

The cast, directed by Brother James Miller, C.S.C., chairman of the theatre department, includes: Al Vota, Jason Alfano, Steph Temple, Lauren Costanza, Guilio Marchi, Spencer Davis, Dan Rossie, Jimmy DeJoseph, Dennis Ferenchick, David Reynolds, Sam Fablo, Dennis Grimes, Cassie Westover, and Jacob Savitski.

A Man for All Seasons will be presented in the Administration Building Auditorium, North River Street. The performances on all four nights begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission: general public, $7: students/ senior citizens, $4. For reservations, call the box office at 208-5825.
