February 1, 2012 - Two local residents and long-time dining room assistants at Moreau Court, the residence of the Holy Cross priests and brothers at King’s College, were among nine people selected to receive the Spirit of Holy Cross Award, an annual recognition by the United States Province of Priests and Brothers of the critical importance lay people play in living out the vision and mission of Holy Cross founder Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C., to make God known, loved and served in education, parish and mission settings.

Betty Marley, pictured left, and Marion Woods, both residents of Wilkes-Barre, have worked with the Holy Cross Community at King’s for 25 years and 15 years, respectively.

Marley and Woods were two of nine recipients selected from locations in 16 countries served by Holy Cross priests and brothers.  Other recipients were from Santiago, Chile; Easton, Mass.; Notre Dame, Ind.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Portland, Ore.
