June 9, 2014 - Jessica Wong, a student at King’s College, is one of only two students in the state to be awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

Wong, who just completed her sophomore year of study, can renew the scholarship for both her junior and senior years by maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average. Wong is an accounting major and is pursuing a minor in mathematics at King’s.

Scholarship recipients are accounting majors who have completed a minimum of 36 credit hours in general study. They are selected on the basis of intellectual capacity, leadership potential, financial need, and intent to pursue a career in accounting.

Each year, the Trustees of the Scholarship Fund of PICPA award scholarships to students majoring in accounting at a Pennsylvania college or university. This year, PICPA granted scholarships to 93 students.  Scholarship amounts range from $1,000-$5,000 and were determined based on the strength of the candidate's application. In 2014, over $300,000 was awarded in scholarships through the PICPA Scholarship Fund.

Wong is a resident assistant, campus activities leader, chief financial officer of Student Government, member of the Honors Program, and a tutor.

King's College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross
