King's College One of 10 In State Selected
to Participate in Harrisburg Event

October 19, 2007 - Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AICUP) selected King's College as one of only 10 Association members to present a project at Independent College Day held recently at the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg.

The event consisted of an exhibition of displays by colleges selected as having a model program in one of ten categories.  King's was selected as the best entry in the Enabling Student Success (graduation rate & retention) category.   The display highlights key programs which enable King's to achieve graduation and graduate placement rates which exceed national averages.

The presentation detailed King's peer-tutoring network and writing center, which provides students with one-on-one conferences to assist them with their studies; an early alert program which focuses on successful student performance academically and personally; career and internship programs that prepare students for the workforce; and faculty engagement which highlights the college's 13:1 student to faculty ratio and illustrates the personalized education students receive while attending King's.

King's was represented at the conference by Michelle Schmude, dean of admission and interim director of marketing and advertising; Jill Rozitski, marketing project manager; and Bill Lynn, director of the Legacy of Excellence capital campaign.

“This award highlights the successful outcomes of a King's College education. King's has a 70 percent graduation rate, which is well above the national average, and a 99 percent placement rate for graduates in either a graduate school program or employment within six months of graduation,” said Schmude of the college receiving the AICUP award. “The success of our students while here at King's and after graduation remains vital to the mission of King's College.”
