September 10, 2009 – King’s College will host a screening of the award-winning documentary about the courageous women of Liberia who stood up against war and inspired their nation. The film, titled “Pray the Devil Back to Hell”, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the Burke Auditorium of the William G. McGowan School of Business on North River Street. The free screening is part of a series of coordinated worldwide events taking place this fall during the Global Peace Tour, a celebration of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace, sponsored locally by the King’s College Women’s Studies Program and Mass Communications Department. Parking will be available at on-campus lots. The film opened in 2008 to rave reviews in more than 80 cities and film festivals around the world, and has also been part of programs for war survivors and policymakers in conflict zones around the world. In May 2009, the women featured in film were awarded the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage award. “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” is directed by Academy Award-nominated, Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Gini Reticker and produced by Abigail Disney, who is also the co-founder and co-president of the Daphne Foundation.
