King's U.S. News & World Report Ranking Improves
to 34th In Best Universities – Master's Category

August 17, 2007 - “U. S. News & World Report” has ranked King's College 34 th in the category of Best Universities – Master's in the Northern United States in the magazine's 21 st annual rankings issue.  It marks the seventh consecutive year that the College is ranked in the “Best” category of institutions in 10 states from Maryland in the south to Maine in the north which offer both bachelor's and master's degree programs. King's ranked 36 th in the same category in last year's rankings issue.

“King's is proud that we continue to be ranked among the top echelon of colleges and universities in our category, ranking with or ahead of many colleges much larger in size,” said the Rev. Thomas O'Hara, C.S.C., King's president.

“King's current ranking is equally impressive since the College is inherently an undergraduate college, and had, until 1999, been ranked among the best schools in that category,” added O'Hara.

“While King's is gratified by our improvement in the rankings, the College considers these subjective studies as external reinforcements to comments we receive from our most important evaluators: our current and prospective students, their families and our graduates.

“King's is in the fourth consecutive year of record enrollment by first-year students.  Next week, the College will welcome its largest ever first-year class, besting the previous record class by more than 50 students.  Students and parents continue to praise their educational experience at King's and our adherence to the principles of a liberal arts education grounded in the Catholic tradition. Also, our graduates continue to attain prestigious post-graduate studies and professional positions,” O'Hara concluded.

In recent years, King's has been selected for national honors and accreditations by several national and international educational associations based on the College's strong faculty and academic programs.  The American Association of Colleges and Universities Greater Expectations Initiative named King's as one of 16 Leadership Institutions nationwide as part of an organized effort to influence the future of liberal arts higher education.  And true to its founding as a Holy Cross institution, the John Templeton Foundation Honor Roll for Character-Building Colleges placed King's among a select group of 100 colleges and universities in the country to be named three times to the honor roll which recognizes institutions that provide students with programs and opportunities to develop their individual character.

King's McGowan School of Business is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide and the College has been included in “Barron's Best Buys in Education” for six consecutive issues.

King's College is a Catholic College sponsored by the congregation of Holy Cross.
