Former racecar driver and president of Chelsea Milling Company Howdy Holmes
to address King’s Family Business Forum, April 17
April 9, 2008 – Former racecar driver and current president of Chelsea Milling Company Howdy Holmes will discuss entrepreneurship, competition, and the transformation of his century-old family business at the King’s College Family Business Forum at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, located between North Main and Franklin streets.
Upon returning to Chelsea Milling Company, manufacturer of JIFFY baking mixes, Howdy led a transformation of the then 100-year-old family business. He will share his unique vantage point on entrepreneurship, competition and how a professionally managed strategic vision was successfully introduced.
Holmes successfully competed in the world of motorsports for 20 years before returning to the family business in 1987. He started a motorsports marketing company and an advertising company, authored an award-winning book titled, “Formula Car Technology,” and was a contributing writer for magazines and newspapers about racing.
