Original works in batik and pastel will be on display in King’s Widmann Gallery

February 25, 2008- From March 3rd through the 28th, artist Joan Chisarick’s work, “Two for the Money – Expressions in Pastel and Batik” will be on display in the Widmann Gallery at King’s College. Chisarick will be exhibiting pastel and batik on rice paper with watercolor ink and paraffin wax works.

Chisarick has been working with batik on rice paper with watercolor ink and paraffin for one year. Chisarick spent 12 years earning her B.F.A from Wilkes University.  During this time, she raised three children and assisted a widowed mother. Shortly after graduating, she joined the Wyoming Valley Art League of Wilkes-Barre and served as president from 1991 to 1993.  She won the Gumbacher award in 1992, along with various other awards from shows held in Moscow and Wilkes-Barre. Chisarick has been studying pastel since 2004, and credits her interest in pastel to her friend and mentor, Georgianna Cray-Bart.

A Meet the Artist reception will be held on March 14, from 6-8 p.m. in the Widmann Gallery. The exhibition is free and open to the public.  Gallery hours: Mon. through Fri., 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun., as arranged.
