Q: Are first-year students allowed to have cars at the College?

A: Yes. All students are permitted to bring vehicles to campus. All students (off-campus, commuter, and residents) who bring a vehicle to campus are required to register their vehicle with the King's College Security Department. Parking is limited on campus. Meter parking is available on adjacent streets. All meter parking is enforced by the Wilkes-Barre Police Department.

Q: Where is parking available for resident students?

A: For resident students desiring to keep their vehicles on campus, reserved overnight parking is available in two of the College's student parking lots on a first-come first-served basis. Parking can be purchased for the year.

  • North Washington Street Lot: $150 per year - 255 spaces available
  • Gravel Lot East North Street: $100 per year - 100 spaces available

Q: Where is parking available for commuting students?

A: Parking in all of the King's College parking facilities is regulated by permit. All commuter students must register their vehicle with the King's College Security Department and a College permit will be issued for a fee of $2.50. The permit will allow access to the following campus parking facilities for a daily fee of $.75.

  • Parkade (top level only), Harrison Street: 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. - 64 spaces/$.75
  • East North Street Lot, East North Street: 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. - 75 spaces/$.75
  • Gravel Lot, East North Street: 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. 80 spaces/$.75

Commuter students may elect to utilize available meter parking on streets adjacent to the campus. Meter parking is enforced by the Wilkes-Barre Police Department. Also, parking may be available at local nearby private parking lots.

Q: What air, rail, and bus transportation is available in Wilkes-Barre?

A: Bus transportation is available through Greyhound, and Martz Trailways in Wilkes-Barre. Train service is not available in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. Air service is provided through the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport located in Avoca, about ten miles from the campus. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport offers flights daily from seven major hubs and service to 300 cities worldwide through U.S. Airways, COMAIR, Continental Express, Delta, U.S. Air Express, and United Express. USAirways and COMAIR/Delta Connection provide regularly-scheduled jet service, and two commuter lines, United Express and USAirways Express reach nine major hubs.

Q: Do students bring bikes to campus?

A: Yes, many students do bring bikes to campus. Bikes must be kept either in the bike racks outside the residence halls or in the students' rooms. If the bike is kept in the student room, he or she must be sure to get their roommates permission to do so.
