Emergency Services
Dial 911 for Wilkes-Barre City EMS. AED's are located in each college dormitory, at the college switchboard, in the Student Health Center, in the Scandlon Gymnasium, and at Betzler Field.
For non-life threatening emergencies after health center hours of operation, refer to Medical Resources for a list of health care providers and walk-in clinics that are within a 5 mile radius of campus.
Medical Emergencies (reasons to go to the emergency room)
- Loss of consciousness
- Severe pain
- Severe shortness of breath
- Asthma/Choking
- Severe chest pain
- Uncontrollable bleeding
- Poisoning
- Alcohol/Drug abuse
- Major injury
- Major allergic reactions
- Severe burns
- Suspected bone fractures/dislocations
- Acute loss of vision
- Severe intractable vomiting
- Severe diarrhea
- Convulsion/seizure
The health center staff will help schedule medical appointments with outside medical providers if needed. We advise students to be familiar with their insurance coverage and in-network providers prior to coming to campus. Transportation to outside healthcare providers within a few miles of the campus can be arranged compliments of our security department. The cost of off-campus care and medication is the responsibility of the student.
