Dial 911 for Wilkes-Barre City EMS. An AED is located at the college switchboard and in the Scandlon Gymnasium

After Hours Non-Emergency Care

When the Health Center is closed, and you feel you have an emergency, or cannot wait until we reopen, you can be seen at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Emergency Department located one half mile from campus on North River St .  If necessary, transportation to a medical facility is available for resident students.

Refer to Medical Resources for a list of health care providers and walk-in clinics that are just a few miles from campus.

Medical Emergencies (reasons to go to the emergency room)

  • Loss of consciousness/convulsions
  • Severe pain
  • Severe shortness of breath
  • Asthma/Choking
  • Chest pain
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Alcohol/Drug abuse
  • Major injury
  • Allergic reactions
  • Severe burns
  • Fractures/Dislocations
  • Loss of vision
  • Severe Nausea / Vomiting
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Convulsions
