King's is an NCAA Division III member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences. The MAC, the oldest and one of the largest Division III conferences in the nation, has undergone significant change over the years, the most recent coming in 2007-08 with more to follow in 2008-09..

The MAC currently has 13 teams split into two leagues, known as the Freedom and Commonwealth Conferences. The Freedom Conference consists of King's College, Arcadia University, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham, Manhattanville College, and Wilkes University. The Commonwealth Conference consists of Albright College, Elizabethtown College, Lebanon Valley College, Lycoming College, Messiah College, and Widener University.

Three new colleges will join the MAC in the 2008-09 year, including Alvernia College, Eastern University, and Misericordia University, bringing the MAC membership total to 16 colleges.

King's also competes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. The ECAC is an athletic conference which includes members from Divisions I, II, and III, and sponsors many post-season championship events for selected teams. The ECAC is comprised of colleges from Maine to North Carolina. Separate championship events are held for all three Divisions according to geographic location.

King's athletic program stands as one of the fastest growing at the Division III level since 1992, adding a total of five new sports for men and women athletes.
