APPLICATION PROCESS FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

Apply for admission - you must first be accepted to the college before any aid can be awarded. Upon acceptance, new first-year students will be considered for scholarships.

File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  after December 31, 2023.  Include King's College federal code 003282 on the FAFSA.  You will be asked to provide income information from your 2022 Federal Tax Return. All other information requested on the FAFSA is to be reported as of the day you are completing the application.  Examples include parent's marital status, assets and savings account information.

After December 31, 2023 you can complete the FAFSA online at www.studentaid.gov. To complete it on-line, you and your parent(s) must first create a Federal Student Aid User Account (FSA ID). The FSA ID will serve as your electronic signatures. If you do not use your FSA ID as your signature, then you must print, sign and mail the signature page within 14 days of submitting the FAFSA. Without a signed FAFSA, your eligibility cannot be determined.

Beginning 2024-2025, parents must provide consent to their information being used on the FAFSA. They must also complete their portion of the FAFSA separately, using their FSA ID. The student will invite the parent(s) to complete their portion.

You will receive a confirmation email when the FAFSA is successfully submitted. Once the FAFSA is processed, you will receive a second email from the U.S Department of Education. Please note, the 2024-2025 FAFSA is experiencing processing delays by the U.S. Department of Education.

Keep copies of your FAFSA for your records. Data from your FAFSA will be sent to all of your college choices listed on the FAFSA.

If you are a resident of Pennsylvania, you will receive an email from PHEAA on how to begin the application process through their new website, GrantUs. The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency PHEAA) may request additional information from you. If requested, please respond promptly. Typically, the PA State Grant program sends out its official notifications of eligibility beginning in mid-May.

Non-Pennsylvania residents should contact their own state's grant program for application requirements and filing deadlines.

In late December, notification of financial aid offers will be emailed to the student's email address listed on their application for admission. (Note, for the 2024-2025 academic year, financial aid offers are estimated to be sent out by mid-April). A text notification will also be sent to students, who have provided a mobile phone number.  Financial aid offers will contain any scholarships offered to you by King's as well as your eligibility for federal, state and other college aid.

Your FAFSA may be selected for verification by the federal processor. If selected, we are required to verify the accuracy of the data you provided. If selected, you will be required to provide additional information to us such as copies of your 2022 federal tax return transcripts. Please respond promptly to all requests for information as it may impact your eligibility for aid.
