1. PRE-APPLICATION

The first step in your semester or summer study abroad journey is to investigate your program options. Think about what you want from your study abroad experience.

Meet with the King's College advisors for study abroad. Consider your goals, course expectations, and financial considerations related to study abroad.

Next, logon to Self-Service and get to know your financial aid package.

If you have not already done so, please fill out the following “pre-application” form. This online form automatically requests electronic approvals from your faculty advisor and the Office of Student Affairs.

Apply for a passport if you do not already have one. If you have a passport, check the expiration date to make sure it will be valid for 6 months past the time of your travel.

It is important to start this process early, preferably a year in advance of your anticipated departure.

2. PLAN

The goal of this phase is to identify a study abroad program that is a good fit for you.

Meet with your faculty advisor at this time, if you have not done so already, to review your overall academic plan and to identify courses you can take while abroad.

Meet with a representative from the King’s College Office of Financial Aid to understand how your aid will apply and estimate your total costs.

If you have a disability that may require an academic or other type of accommodation to enable you to participate in study abroad, please contact the Disability Service Coordinator to make your accommodation request. You may also visit the King's College Disability Services Program webpage.

3. APPLY

You will apply directly to your study abroad program. You will also, at this time, apply for any study abroad scholarships.

Don't forget to apply for scholarships!

Drop-in visitors are welcome to come to open office hours and to browse our library of study abroad scholarship and program information at the Office of Study Abroad, 112 N. Franklin Street.

King’s College study abroad application deadlines are as follows::

  • November 1 spring semester study abroad
  • March 15, external summer and fall semester study abroad
  • November 10, King’s faculty-led summer programs

NOTE: The application deadlines vary by program and country.  Please check the program's website before applying.

4. GET READY

In this phase you will get ready to travel! You will complete last details; this may include (as needed) securing your housing, courses, visa, air tickets, and financial and other planning.

You will learn about your place of travel. The US State Department offers a vital website for students and parents related to study abroad.

You will be invited to attend a pre-departure workshop at the Office of Study Abroad.
