STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM - STUDENT EXPERIENCES
Adriane Kinner How did you select your Study/Intern Abroad location? I browsed through some brochures, and when I saw the words “circus arts” I immediately said I have to do that! Why did you want to study or intern abroad? Studying abroad was always a dream of mine. One of my goals, especially now that I have been abroad, is to see the world; studying abroad was just the first step. What were the highlights of this experience? Everything was amazing! I loved my program, the people, the country, travelling with friends; there is no way I could ever choose. What surprised you the most? Me. I didn’t know a soul where I went, and I had limited contact with anyone from home, and I was half way across the world, and I’d never flown across an ocean before. I learned a lot about the Australian culture, but I learned so much more about myself and who I am away from every comfort zone I’ve ever built. How has (or how might) this experience affect your major and future career? It has proven to me that I can go other places and make it. My confidence has soared; most importantly it has shown me another culture and opened my mind to new ways of thinking. Being a mass communications major, open-mindedness and creativity are crucial. What would you tell students considering studying or interning abroad? Do It! You will learn so much and if you let it, this experience will change your life, outlooks, and challenge you to become so much more. Being in a new environment and culture is a lot of fun. The memories and friends you make will stick with you forever. If you are the least bit nervous, just fight it and go for it, it’s worth it! |
