Sankofa African Drum and Dance ensemble will perform at King's College, Nov. 6
October 29, 2007- Sankofa African Drum and Dance Ensemble will perform an eclectic mix of drum, dance, and songs as part of a free concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, on the third floor of the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center at King's College.
Sankofa is is led by Kofi, an Asante prince from Ghana , and Yacin, a Wollof princess from Senegal . The group will be comprised of two drummers and a dancer for the College performance. Formed in 1997, the group teaches togetherness in diversity and the empowerment of the individual self-image, as well as community building through African drumming and dance.
Sankofa African Drum and Dance ensemble's performance is free and open to the public. The Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center is located between North Main and Franklin streets. For more information, contact Delight Yokley, director of College Diversity, at (570) 208-5898.
