Baltimore Consort to perform free concert at King’s

September 14, 2009– Featuring rising vocalists, countertenor Jose Lemos and soprano Danielle Svonavec, the Baltimore Consort will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, on the third floor of the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center at King’s College.

Founded in 1980 to perform the instrumental music of Shakespeare’s time, the Baltimore Consort has explored early English, Scottish, and French popular music, focusing on the relationship between folk and art song and dance.

The Consort, which has recorded 14 discs on the Dorian label, has toured all regions of the USA, appeared frequently in Europe, and has held residencies at the Walters Art Gallery and the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. Its performances have been broadcast on syndicated radio programs, such as “Performance Today,” “St. Paul Sunday,” and “Millennium of Music.”

The Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center is located between North Main and Franklin streets. The performance is a part of King’s College’s “Experiencing the Arts” series. For more information, contact Robert Yenkowski at (570) 208-6044 or RobertYenkowski@kings.edu.
