Karen Baker named director of academic grants at King’s College

September 14, 2009 –Karen Baker has been appointed director of academic grants at King’s College. Her primary responsibility will be to manage the academic grant process for faculty research projects and initiatives. She will assist faculty in identifying grant opportunities, preparing grant submissions and serve as a liaison to granting agencies on behalf of the College as needed.
 
A resident of Lake Ariel, Baker will collaborate with faculty and administrators to meet strategic plan objectives, organize faculty workshops on external grant funding sources and serve as a resource for grant development and management to individual faculty, programs and departments.
 
Prior to her position at King’s, Baker served as director of the Mercy Healthcare Foundation, Scranton, where she was responsible for the Foundation’s overall fundraising and development activities. She has also served as grant management consultant for a major university-based microbiology research program, and in various public relations and marketing positions throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
 
Baker earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Pennsylvania State University and pursued graduate studies at the University of Scranton.
